Designed to stand proud in the Pinetum of RHS Garden Wisley, this was built in 2018 to showcase the variety of different pine cones you might find as you stroll through the Pinetum. Made from Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar wood (reflecting the pine trees surrounding it), the laser engraved wood reflects the materials its made from as it features bespoke illustrations of both pines cones from the Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar. The acrylic box encasing the cones was built to not only protect the cones from little fingers, but also as a way of labelling the cones for the visitors to compare size, scale and shape to find on their walk, using reverse cut vinyl lettering. The laser engraved panels were replaced in 2023 with printed wooden panels.
